Poker Wednesday Night: + $50

So, we had a get together on Wednesday to celebrate Duane's short visit back to Edmonton. We played at Jim's, on his new dining room table. In attendance were: Jim, Jay, Duane, Graham, Dave, Johnny and I. It was fun playing with a whole bunch of new guys, lots of different styles. In the end, it came down to Duane and I, and I ended up winning on a loose call. Luckily, his all in was even looser, and I won it with a small pair.

So, I'm now up $50 in my poker pot.

Next game: Not sure. Long weekend coming up, so it might not happen until next weekend.

Poker Saturday night: even

So, the Chem crew got together and played another game of poker on Saturday. I finished second to Jay, meaning I got my $10 entry back.
Afterwards, I realized that in my poker playing career, I am right at even money. Eventhough I won a $100 pot one night when playing with some friends ($20 buy-in), I'm not up in the grand scheme of things. So, from now on I'll be sure to let myself know (and since you may or may not be reading this, you too) how my poker bank account is looking.
Speaking of Saturday, I played really well, managing to get a suck out on Aaron (sorry guy!), but then losing on a pretty tough beat. The flop was 55J, and with the short stack, and a 5 in my hand, I went all in. Jason called with a J in his hand (two pair is entirely decent heads up). The turn was a J, giving him J's full of fives, with me the opposite. Can't do anything but grin and bear that!

Chris H. off safely

Well, I'm happy to inform everyone that Chris H. left Edmonton successfully this morning. It was an early drive to the airport by yours truly, especially after the late-night poker session we had the night before. In case you care, it came down to Josh M. and I, and he called me while I tried to steal the blinds with a crappy hand. It was good seeing Chris again, to make sure that he hasn't turned too American, though if you read his blog, you know that certainly isn't the case.
